project 1. school magazine

Initially I choose an image of a boy using an apple Mac computer to fit to my theme of arts. but as this photo was portrait and left a lot of blank space I choose a different image. This image was taken as I was getting used to the camera and the result was quite interesting. A medium close up of a student within a music class in a distinctive pose creating an up to date feel for the school. The image had a distinctive natural lighting creating a glowing effect to the image. I choose to change the dept of focus of the image to bring forward the model and create a blurred effect of the back ground in a shallow focus. As my image was mainly lighted naturally it didn’t seem necessary to add additional lighting effects or add bold colours. So I stuck to the blue black and yellow of my schools colours.

Basic and plain was my aim, as to many strap lines and fixtures seemed to over take the main image taking away from the focus. Whist thinking of strap lines to include I used relevant topics occurring within my own school such as the school production and the new skills in to learning to how to use logic. For my masthead I saw a font which gave a clown sort of feel which seemed to fit well into my theme of arts. I took ideas form newsletters and other school magazines I had previously seen to fit conventions of typical school magazines.
